Hello Sunshine

I had a little time to play today so I decided to play along with the Friday Mashup 197.

This week's Mashup Challenge:
  • Create a project with a "Farm Animal".
  • Create a project with "Bling".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project "using a Farm Animal with some Bling".

Unfortunately, I do not have any current stamps of farm animals so I had to dust off my Storybook Animals stamp set from Stampin' Up!.  I merged it with a current stamp set in the 2015 Occasions Catalog, the So You photopolymer stamp set, to make a nice bright fun card.

The color combination is Tangelo Twist, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Hello Honey.

While the sun is shining here in Chicagoland, the Polar Vortex is back so I am hoping so it was nice to make something that made me think of something warm at least!

For those experiencing similar weather issues (or worse), stay warm and take care!

A Birthday Stampin' Celebration Inspiration

Can you believe it's already mid-February?!?  I am looking forward to getting out of the polar vortex!

Luckily, it's time for another Stampin' Celebration inspiration challenge (SC98)!

This month's inspiration was great for me to use to catch up on some scrapbooking.  I downloaded the Celebrate Today Digital Stamp Brush Set for My Digital Studio.  This set is great for celebrations of any kind!  I love the banners.  The stamp set is in the 2015 Occasions Catalog and has a coordinating framelit die.  I have had a lot of fun making banners and balloons with this set.

I used the inspiration to create a page for my daughter.  The pastel colors look great together and help keep the pictures as the main focal point.

Can't wait to see what everyone else creates with this fun inspiration!

Happy creating!

Birthdays with a Tutu

I just love making tutu's with filter paper so when I was asked to make birthday cards for a little girl I was happy to do so!

I actually made a card for her a few months ago when her daughter was born.  It used the bokeh effect and a onesie tutu so when she asked for a similar card I was so happy.  I forgot to take a picture of the original card I made for her, so it was nice to have an excuse to remake them in a similar way!

For this card I used blushing bride, calypso coral and hello honey to make the circles on the background.

The onesie was die cut with the Baby's First framelits and the Big Shot.  Then I added the tutu by punching white filter paper with the Petite Petals Punch.  I added a few glue dots to the onesie and then placed each flower on the onesie.  It is a great effect!

I also made a few of the same cards with Wisteria Wonder, Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate.

This is a really fun card that can be used for multiple purposes!

Dear Heart Birthday Card

I made a contact who really enjoys the handmade cards I create.  She recently asked for a few birthday cards to have on hand for little girls and boys.

I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to take out my Dear Heart photopolymer stamp set from Stampin' Up!  I love this stamp set, but since my "little" boy is now 16 and my youngest nephew is 9.  So, needless to say I don't really have many opportunities to use this stamp set.

Anyway, opportunity knocked!

For the colors I decided to use Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, Tangelo Twist and Crumb Cake,

For the background I used the Be the Star Stamp set from the Stampin' Up! annual catalog.  The alligator image is from the Dear Heart stamp set.  I stamped him with Memento ink and then used the new Wild Wasabi Blendabilities to color him in.  Then, I fussy cut him out and mounted him on a flag I cut out from crumb cake card stock.

The greeting is from the Endless Wishes photopolymer stamp set (in the Annual Catalog) stamped with Chocolate Chip ink pad.

She loved the cards and I had fun making them!

I will post the card I made for little cards on my next post!

More Love

I have another card I made for Valentine's Day to share with you!  I made this last weekend when Chicagoland got 19" of snow.  A great day to stay inside and create!

The card happened to fit the Friday Mashup challenge #196.

This week's Mashup Challenge is:

  • Create a project with the colors "Red, White & Pink".
  • Create a project with "a Love theme".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Love themed project using the above colors".

Here is my card.  I made a few polymer clay embellishments using the new Alphanumeric Simply Pressed Clay Mold from the Stampin' Up! 2015 Occasions Mini.  I used a Real Red reinker to color the white polymer clay a red color.

I love how this card turned out.  I used a card I found while viewing Pinterest and just had to try to make something similar.

I love the 3-D effect of using embossing paste.  For my card I colored some white embossing paste with blushing bride reinker to get the pink hearts (from the hearts mask).

I think this card will be for my loving husband.

Have a great week!

Be Mine Valentine

Another Valentine's Day card to show you today.  Inspiration for this card came from the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge (#237).  I found this sketch after the link had already closed but I thought it was a fun sketch could not wait to see what I could create!

PPA237

I had been using my Snuggle and Smooches photopolymer stamp set so I decided to change it up and use the You Plus Me Stamp Set from the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  This is a great stamp set with lots of images to help create a collage style card.  I kind of wished I had ordered the Stacked with Love Washi Tape.  It would have been nice for the two small rectangles.  But, I really like the way XOXO paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Pack looks on the card!  The black and white helps break up the red a little.

Now, just have to get my cards in mail in time so they arrive to their various intended locations by Feb 14!

Snuggles and Smooches Valentine's Card

I spent some time making Valentine's Day cards.  For today's card I used the sketch on Fusion Card Challenge (Heartful).

I liked the design and decided to use the Snuggle and Smooches photopolymer stamp set for this card.

I really like the versatility of the Stacked in Love Designer series Paper Stack from the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog.  I can't wait to see what I can do with this paper after February 14th!

Have a great day, hope you get to create something fun!

Happy Birthday Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone, time for another Stampin' Celebration Sketch Challenge (SC97)!  I had so many ideas for this sketch, it's simple and yet you can do so  much more with it than meets the eye!

In the end I decided to go with a birthday themed card.  I need to add to my stock so I can try to be diligent with sending cards on time this year.  Of course, I say that as I have a gift for my niece who lives in Switzerland sitting on my dining table.

Anyway, here is my project for this sketch!

I decided to have the diagonal piece be a part of the greeting.  The color scheme was inspired by a color combination I saw on Pinterest.  For these colors I used Stampin' Up! colors of Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant, Cherry Cobbler and Strawberry Slush. The "Happy" is from the So You stamp set in the 2015 Occasions Catalog and the "birthday" is from the Celebrate Today stamp set also in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set for some background interest and the Bermuda Bay sequin trim ribbon.  I knew I wanted to use this sequinned ribbon, so I actually chose the color scheme to incorporate the Bermuda Bay color!

bold and beautiful

I actually created another card with this sketch.  I used the chevron punch and used the same color combination as above.

Hope these ideas bring you additional inspiration!  Enjoy.
