Happy Birthday!

My husband's birthday was Friday so I made him a card.  I really like how this turned out.  I like the Delightful Dozen stamp set, but haven't used it too much.  He enjoyed his day and all the little things the kids planned for him, including a "surprise" greeting when he came home from work complete with decorations and a decorated cookie cake!

Stamp set: Delightful Dozen
Colors: Midnight Muse, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Marina Mist, Early Espresso
Big Shot: Needlepoint embossing folder (spring mini), Tasteful Trim Bigz Die
Accessories: Parker's Pattern DSP (Spring mini)

Miss You

While I don't really have anyone specific to send a card such as this, I wanted to do a luggage card using the faux alligator technique.  I love the way it turned out!  While I made this a while ago, with a now retired stamp sets (p.s. I love you and well worn background stamp), there are many other stamp sets one could use to recreate this card.

To create the faux alligator bag look, I took soft sued cardstock and covered it with Versamark.  Then I took clear embossing powder and loaded up the cardstock.  Then, I took a bone folder and drew random lines in the powder.  Once all the lines were drawn, I heat embossed it and voila!  The faux alligator bag look.  I saw a pink and gray and black bag in the sunday sales paper so my next project is to try to recreate that one for a card!  I'll post the results soon!

Sprinkling of Flowers

I really like the look of the paper flowers so one day I was searching for a floral design and saw this one through a google search.  I loved the colors and started naming them via Stampin UP colors (Lucky Limeade, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Pink Pirouette).  You get the picture.
So, I started making flowers and this is what I ended up with.  I had to design my own watering can since I could not find a pattern I liked.  Below is my rendition of this watering can full of flowers.

All Dressed Up for Valentine's Day

I was so inspired by Kimberly van Diepen's dresses using the Dressed Up Framelits and pop-up Posie Kit.  They are just gorgeous!!

Kimberly Van Diepen stampin up demo

So, I decided to try making them myself.  After watching her videos I was much more confident!  She makes it look so easy.  Anyway, I decided to make Valentine cards with the dresses.

The first card uses the flowers from the Blossom Party original die.  The other 2 cards use the Posies Kit.  The "love" stamp is from the Best of Love stamp set from the Best of 25 years stamp series for February.  I thought the Primrose Petal card was a bit plain, so I added the En Francais background stamp to the Pool Party cards.  Much better!  The big hearts are from the Hearts framelits (the large one, just smaller than the largest scalloped one); pink pirouette and so saffron.  A few pearls and ribbon finish off the look.

Enjoy!!

Birthday Stamp Camp

I am holding a birthday card stamp camp at a friends house.  I decided to make them easy yet pleasing to the eye.  A few of the cards were case'd from other stampers.  I will give credit in the close-up shots.

This card uses the print poetry paper pack and the Best of Birthdays Stamp Set (one of the exclusive 25th anniversary sets released this year to celebrate the Stampin Up! 25th anniversary.

This card uses the Madison Ave Designer Series Paper (Salebration item).  The card was based on the Ten Minute Tuesday card design from Penny Smiley (ten-minute-tuesday). I added the butterflies for a little bling.

This card uses the Tea for Two DSP (even the pinwheel) and the
Bloomin Marvelous stamp set (salebtration item).

Another design from Penny Smiley (vintage-dress-form).  I changed up the background stamp (creative elements) and the color scheme (bashful blue with marina mist and artichoke spritz).

Have a great day!

You are my sunshine

Stampin Up! has some beautiful images they have released as single stamps (single stamps) which are available until the end of March!  I love the You Are my Sunshine Stamp!  I sing the song to my kids sometimes and it definitely makes me happy.

The first thought I had when I saw the image was that it would make a wonderful chalkboard card!  I really like the chalkboard style.  So easy and such a great look!  This card is pretty simple.

Versamark with white embossing powder on basic black cardstock.  Love that even the simple mistakes (extra powder on the card) make the chalkboard look even more authentic.

A little sponging of whisper white craft ink to make the eraser marks and a large rhinestone!  I also colored in some of the image with a yellow and orange colored pencil to add a splash of color.

Stamp set: You are my sunshine
Colors: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black; Versamark
Accessories: White embossing powder, large rhinestone
