Glittery Birthday Greetings

I have been having the best time making shaker cards.  I don't know why it took me so long to try one.  They are really easy and Stampin' Up! makes it so easy to create them by providing the coordinating sequins, punches and paper to make it so easy!!

For my sister's birthday I decided to make her card a shaker card.  She loves butterflies so I used the Beautiful Wings embosslits die to make the butterflies. The top picture is the card standing up.

The next picture shows the card laying down so you can see all the pretty things inside the circle.

Along with the butterflies, I added some basic rhinestones (two glued together back to back) and hearts from the hearts border punch and gold glitter paper (again, glued back to back so you see only gold glitter on both sides).

She liked the card and it was pretty easy to make!

Hello Fall Y'all!

I love that saying.  I am in no way Southern, midwesterner through and through, whatever that means.  But I just love the saying "Happy Fall Y'All!". For this months Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge #SC88, a few things just came together for me that made the outcome fun!

Of course, I love the leaves in the Fun Fall framelits dies in the 2014 Stampin' Up! Holiday mini so I had to use them on the card.  Also, I bought the Yee Haw photopolymer stamp set and couldn't wait to figure out how to use it.  So, while it took me a few days to put everything together, the mojo gelled and I came out with a card I was happy to share!

A lot of different elements in this card.  For the leaves, I sprayed a mix of alcohol and mossy meadow ink onto crushed curry and cherry cobbler cardstock and used the Fun Fall framelit dies to cut them out.  For the orange leaves I actually started with very vanilla cardstock and sprayed it with a mixture of tangerine tango alcohol spray and mossy meadow alcohol spray.  The effect is more of a watery color mixture effect instead of the sprayed droplets.  If that makes sense.

For the acorns, I stamped the acorn stamp from the For All Things stamp set with VersaMark onto Kraft cardstock.  I used my bone folder to carefully apply clear embossing powder to the bottom of the acorn and early espresso embossing powder to the top of the acorn.  I don't really know how the gray in between the two colors came about but I am liking it!

A few staples here, a few dimensionals there, a little burlap and linen thread later and a card to welcome fall is created.

Hope you play along with the challenge!  I can't believe October is on it's way. Luckily it's a long month, nevertheless, it will likely go by as quickly as the rest of the year!

Have a great day!

Birthday Martini

To celebrate World Card Making Day on Saturday, October 4th I decided to have a Stamp Camp.  I have been designing a few cards for this event and I am happy to share one of them with you today.

The inspiration for this card came from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #155.

I decided to use the Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set from the Stampin' Up! 2014 Holiday catalog.

Color combinations for this card are Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise and Pear Pizzazz along with Whisper White.  I like the color combination.  Kind of like an Apple Martini!

The stars are punched using the Confetti Star punch and Dazzling Diamond glitter paper.  Nice bling that is easy to apply!

Have a great Sunday!

Brilliant Stars!

Welcome to the Sketch Challenge at Stampin' Celebration (SC87)!  I have had a great time so far designing with the team from Stampin' Celebration!

For this month's sketch challenge I decided to use stars.  A few people at work made some major accomplishments recently so I decided to design a card I could use to acknowledge their efforts.

I used the Star Framelits for the big star and the star from the Circle Card Thinlits Die for the smaller stars.  The background is the Zig Zig Textured Impressions folder.  The colors are Basic Gray, Smoky Slate and Cherry Cobbler. The greeting is from Be the Star stamp set.

Hope you play along with us for this challenge!

Shake It Up!

A few weeks ago The Friday Mashup had a challenge that involved making a shaker card with an animal (The Friday Mashup! #175.  I didn't have time to play along that week but I loved the idea and knew what I wanted to try!  This weekend I had a chance to play around in my stamp room so I decided to make a card with this challenge in mind.

Here is the card I made:

I knew I wanted to use the Kind Koala stamp !  I love this stamp.  I have used it on so many cards already.

I also knew I wanted to convert the flower into balloons.  I figured he was already holding something so why not balloons??

I wasn't sure how the balloons would turn out so I did what I do best and just started.  I figured paper is plentiful in  my house so I could always start again if I needed to.  The good news is that the balloons worked out the first time!  I was shocked.  Of course there are ways I could improve, but I am happy with the first attempt.

For the Koala I ended up stamping the Koala onto Baked Brown Sugar cardstock and fussy cutting him out.  It looked better than markers and I wanted to stick with the 2013-2015 In-Colors.

This card is going to my niece at college.  She is a Freshman and I hope it adds a smile to her day.

Stamp Set: Kind Koala
Colors: Whisper White, Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Black ink (I used the Memento ink pad because I wasn't sure if would use the blendabilities or not)
Accessories: Circle framelit dies, In Color sequins, 2013-2015 In-color thick baker's twine

Fresh Courage

It's been a while since I played along with Freshly Made Sketches.  I needed a card for a co-worked who is in the hospital so I decided to try and find a sketch that was simple enough for my tired Monday brain.  Freshly Made Sketches #152 hit that mark!

I love the Four Feathers stamp set from the ©Stampin' Up! 2014 Holiday catalog and the Feather framelits dies.  I also love that they are bundled with a 15% discount!

I used the color combination from the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape, also in the Holiday Catalog.  The colors I used are Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow with Very Vanilla.

I used the rock-n-roll method to ink the feathers by stamping the feather in Old Olive ink first and then rolling the edge of the feather in the Mossy Meadow for a two-toned effect.  I saw a few multi-toned feathers using these stamps on Pinterest so I decided to try the rock-n-roll effect.

I used a small gold-brushed button (2014 Holiday Catalog) and looped some crushed curry baker's twine behind it.

The sentiment is from the Something to Say stamp set in the 2014-2015 ©Stampin' Up! Catalog.

Hope you enjoyed the card!

Stampin' Celebration September Inspiration

Time for the September inspiration challenge from Stampin' Celebration (SC86)!  When I saw these colors I immediately thought of my second child. She loves purple!  My sister also loves purple and she is a second child, coincidence?!?

I ordered a few of the new products from the Stampin' Up! 2014 Holiday Catalog and decided to use some fun new products!

For this card I used Very Vanilla cardstock and stamped the dots from the Dotty Angles photopolymer stamp set (2014 Catalog) using Wisteria Wonder ink.  Then I used a feather from the Four Feathers stamp set (2014 Holiday catalog) and stamped it using versamark and then heat emboseed with gold embossing powder.  I fussy cut the feather.

I used the notetag punch and pucnhed out tags from brushed gold cardstock and elegant eggplant cardstock. Then I cut out a thin strip of very vanilla and stamped the greeting using elegant eggplant ink (Another Thank You photopolymer stamp set, 2014 catalog).  I used the notecard punch (2014 Holiday catalog) to punch the rounded edge into the vanilla greeting piece to match the edge.  Then I layered these pieces together.

I made a fork bow with the gold baker's twine and punched out some small hearts from brushed gold cardstock using the heart border punch.  I also took a few of the gold strands from the gold bakers twine out of the twine and added them behind the feather along with a few strands of gold baker's twine.

I haven't really used much gold so it was nice to use this color, especially with the purple.

Please check out the projects the other Stampin' Challenge designers created for this inspiration challenge! Great ideas from everyone!
